Drawing inspiration from a traditional plastic shell chair was the starting point for the Hammock chair. Axel Bjurström wanted the same simplicity but with a sense of freedom and flexibility, a shell that follows your body’s movements and adapts the sitter, providing great comfort regardless of the position you sit in. The Hammock we believe does this despite its simplicity. Made from a steel tube structure and naturally tanned vegetable leather it has an under the seat that is secured with a heavy laminated cotton canvas that is tightened with straps underneath to get the correct suspension. The leather will patina with age and mold to the shape of the sitter creating a history between chair and user. The Hammock range has a lounge chair and stool version.
