Description
The French mathematician Gabriel Lame first described the formula of the superellipse, since then it has been used for practical purposes by architects, designers, mathematicians such as Piet Hein who in collaboration with architect David Helldén designed Stockholm’s central square. Things made with straight lines well fit together and save space but we can move easily around things made with round lines as mentioned by Hein. Hence the Biru bottle opener is designed using the mathematic formulas of a superellipse and supercircle, harmonizing both shapes to sit perfectly in the palm of your hand.
