The Fruit Bowl is a result of a rare occasion where Wegner, not concerned about practical issues used wood turning techniques to create a stand-alone piece that was extravagant and elegant. Wegner presented the Fruit Bowl at the annual Cabinetmakers Guilds Autumn Exhibition, where a journalist questioning the reason for this excessive extravagance confronted him. Well, sometimes you like to just let go! Wegner replied. It is a one-off piece of art that states the high points of the golden era of Danish Modern in the 1950s.
